Want-to-Make Wednesday - I feel a party coming on...

Miss U-t-B didn't want a big birthday party this year (not that we've ever really done BIG parties).  All she wants is her two best friends for a sleepover, and then they'll be here for the Tea Party too.

But how fab would a 'Fascinating Fascinator' party be next year, when they may all be looking ahead to a post GCSE celebration?  I say might be, as I don't actually know if her school do such a thing, but I know it is 'de rigeur' at most schools these days, so perhaps there will be.

The inspiration for this idea was an article in 'Making' magazine from January of this year.

The ideas are all so pretty.

(And this dress is just gorgeous!)

I'm thinking of scouring the local charity shops over the next year to find bits and pieces she and a group of her friends could use.

Which do you like best?
For me, it's the peacock feather and diamante brooch.

  2. Great idea - not just for older ladies then - they actually look really fab! Like the peacock feather one, but are they not supposed to be unlucky?

  4. oh How gorgeous... would they wear them to the Prom ? Proms seem all the rage over here now though I doubt whether Joe will get too excited ! Jess went to hers.

I used to have a vase full of peacock feathers ( when my brother worked in a zoo park ) Then used some to do my final display at art clege and... the whole display board split in half !!! Unlucky ? yes I suppose so - no one else's work fell down !!!

  5. Didn't know about peacock feathers being unlucky! I'll change allegiance to the cream one on the left in the bottom picture!

Love the gift from the tooth fairy, I hope it came with cake. (but hope you're not in too much pain) x

  7. I read this article, and I in fact obtained some peacock feathers and a diamanté brooch for this very reason, you've reminded me I should attempt to make it! The only problem is that I'm rubbish at doing hair and probably wouldn't do it justice.
